At age eighteen, he was emancipated and began to work on a commercial steam vessel that sailed back and forth between Albany and New York, New York. 1 In 1827, he married Harriet Johnson, and together they had four children. Stephen Myers (c. 1800 – February 13, 1870) was an abolitionist and agent of the Underground Railroad through the 1830s–1850s.
